Before I graduate BYU-Idaho I’m going to take a web designing class; but if it doesn’t suffice I think I will invest some dough into taking a couple of these courses. They’re a bit spendy, but the job market for graphic designers is essentially obsolete without knowledge in web design. They also have a course on Professional Practices for graphic designers, which introduces the...

It’s late… but I will add to this post soon. very very soon. Promise.
**SPOILER ALERT!** I am the most chronically non-photogenic person in Oregon The United States World. And I noticed from the pictures tha I have horrible posture; take my word for it. I’m not posting those.**

Here’s my Macbook Pro’s new home:
I got the idea of leaving the selvage for the flap from a girl who came into the craft warehouse last year; and incidentally she got the idea from an LDS girlscamp where she made the bag.
Anyway. Someday I’ll get really good about sewing and making things and actually do what I’m supposed to; like measure and cut strait, and iron and...

Again, I find myself in a good place. For the past couple days I’ve been mapping out the next day and the things I want to accomplish; there’s something gratifying about checking things off a list. Sure I haven’t met my ‘wake up before 8am’ goal; but I think I’ll get there soon. Maybe sooner if I can get to bed before 3am — there’s no reason...

Through a chain of fortunate events, (namely, I went to EFY in 2006 and met Jason Call, who is now a former member of the band Daphne Loves Derby, and we’ve kept in touch a little bit over the years, and know’s I’m an artsy fartsy graphic design major) I’ve been enlisted to work on t-shirt designs for the Californian band, Sherwood.
Over the past week under little...

I’m sitting here at the Gov Cup in Salem with my computer, sketchbook, wacom tablet, no makeup and in total productive mode. I love this. I can’t seem to be productive at my own home.. too many distractions, too many things to clean, but here.. it’s nice. Lynda.com tutorial videos and redoing some old work.
These past couple months have been really frustrating, needing to get an...

There is no doubt that we are in a tough market. Lots of people have lost their job and many others are facing the risk & reality of losing their job. That sucks on so many levels.
Like many VCs, I am getting a ton of resumes and inbound interest for a variety of our portfolio companies that are hiring right now. I am doing my best to read them all.

Good news though, I’m loved and am in love. Yeahhh.. it’s a good feeling. It makes this sucky week seem not quite as sucky as it probably is.

I know all of my avid blog readers are antsy about my cynical blog, but that’s going to wait just a bit. Right now, something more serious, a topic that keeps resurfacing. And I want to claire-ify something to everyone who knows me.
So I’m reading the Visiting Teaching message for this month, and it’s about Upholding, Nourishing and Protecting the Family. Probably, and obviously...

I like this photography. Raw (mostly, with the exception of a few alterations done in a way to emphasize the photo, not change it). Rexburg is riddled with engagement announcement photoshopped crap. I’m not a photographer, so maybe I shouldnt be talking. But I feel it’s an illustrator’s job to alter imagery to make a point, and a photographer’s job to simply capture it....

Who started this rumor that artists can’t earn a living? Sure if you’re just copying faries and anime, you’re not going to get very far; but when you create something that uses a childhood comfort to cancel out a necessary childhood dread, well then.. well then i dunno, but it’s genius.

Kids, listen up, speeding doesn’t pay. Especially if you get caught and ticketed four times in a year.

I bought a new macbook pro.
I realized that once school is over, it’s going to be such a pain to my bank account to keep updated on technology. Im pretty sure my model is origially $2,000, but I bought it, and apple care, for a little less; so I saved a good $500. Then I got the CS4 design suite; $339, originally $1700.
ugh.. how do people do it?
Anyway. Im going to get an hour of sleep...

It’s 5 degrees outside right now. Granted, it’s 3am in Rexburg, but there were rumors that it was it was -21 degrees this morning, and the high today (or yesterday, technically) was 11 degrees. When I was home I debated whether or not Oregon cold was colder than Rexburg, Idaho cold… but it’s not. It’s definitly, definitly not.

Last night Phil missed his exit to get back to his apartment in Covallis by 25 minutes because he likes talking to me so much. He didn’t realize he missed it until he was just about to Eugene. That’s silly. But what can I say.. Im pretty freaking intriguing.

I am back in school.
I drove out at the beginning of January. It was suprisingly pretty clear through the Gorge and over the pass, some snow drifts which made visibility near nill, but that was it. However I got just south of Pocatello around 10pm and I started hearing this helicopter noise. I ignored it for a bit, but as it persisted I slowed down and noticed that the noise got quieter I knew...
